……..Faster, Louder, Lighter

The 2016 Pagani Huyra BC is a hardcore, lighter and more focused version of the already insane Pagani Huayra supercar with power ramped up to close to 800bhp. It will be officially on display at the 2016 Geneva motor show in March. Unfortunately only 20 cars will be built, not that I can afford one . The Huayra BC is road legal, but very much track-focused. The best news is it’s 385 lb lighter than a Mclaren P1.

What does the BC Mean?

BC stands for Benny Caiola, an Italian-American property mogul who was Pagani’s first customer.

What makes it different from the ‘Base Model’ Pagani Huayra?

A lot really, they have pretty much rebuilt the original from the ground up, however it continues with its mad interior. Not a single body panel on the BC is the same as the regular Huayra. The elephant in the room is the massive new rear wing, which works with the front splitter to increase aerodynamics.

It continues with the tried and trusted 6.0-litre twin-turbo AMG-built V12 but the power and torque numbers have been pushed up to 789 hp and 811 lb ft, respectively. I have heard it could be closer to 800 hp. Pagani redesigned the part-titanium exhaust system, which is both lighter and has less back pressure.

Lightness is the key to this car and it weighs in at 291 lb less than the original Huayra. The aluminum-alloy suspension is 25 percent lighter than the Huayra’s, as are the  carbon-ceramic Brembo brakes. They have even managed to make the tires 3 percent lighter than before. Those 20/21in front and rear wheels are wrapped in specially developed Pirelli tyres, with optional track-only tyres said to enable the BC to achaeive corner forces near  to 2g. Attention to detail is the key and because the parking brake was too heavy Pagani replaced it with an electronic unit to shave off  a couple of pounds.

The gearbox is brand-new, a seven-speed automated manual developed by specialists Xtrac, coupled with an electronically controlled differential sprouting tripod-shaped driveshafts, similar to those in a Le Mans prototype. The combined weight of gearbox and differential is almost 40% lower than the regular Huayra’s dual-clutch box. Shift times are halved from 150ms in the standard Huayra to 75ms here.
