Looking for your next sports car or supercar? Some may not eventually be released but we hope they are. Here’s a few Future Sports Cars that might fit your needs and pretty much drain your bank account.
2019 Lamborghini Asterion
Lamborghini is following in the footsteps of Ferrari’s LaFerrari, the McLaren P1, and Porsche 918 Spyder with this Huracan based supercar. A 602-hp 5.2-liter V-10 from the Huracan, a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, an integrated motor/generator at the back end, and two electric motors to power the front wheels.
Total combined output is 897 hp. A small lithium-ion battery pack should be good for 31 miles and a top speed of 78 mph in EV mode. Put you foot down and the V10 wakes from it’s slumber and is estimated to hit 60 in a 3 seconds flat and onto a top speed of 199 mph. Given that the Huracan wil hit 60 in 2.8 seconds we expect it to be quicker.
Maserati Alfieri
The Alfieri is built on the GranTurismo MC Stradale chassis but shortened by almost 10 inches. The Alfieri will probably use the Ferrari-designed, turbocharged, 3.0-liter V-6 turbo from the Ghibli sedan with power outputs of 404 hp in entry-level rear-wheel-drive models to 500 hp in all-wheel-drive model. Expect the Alfieri to compete against the Jaguar F-type, the Mercedes-AMG GT, and the Porsche 911 with a starting price around $100,000.
Ferrari FF Coupe
A better styled version of the weird shaped FF, the rear gets a a sloping roofline and no room for rear seat passengers. Not that anyone ever got back there anyway. It should get the same naturally aspirated, 651-hp, 6.3-liter V-12 powering the current FF and compete with the current crop of GT cars including the Aston Martin Vanquish and Bentley Continental GT.
The only concern is it looks remarkably similar to the Ferrari F12, only with less power. Expect it to be a 2016 model and cost around $300K.
Toyota Supra
The new Toyota Supra has been designed in partnership with BMW. Rumors are that underneath the Toyota body will be a turbocharged inline-six BMW engine. The coupe’s rear-drive chassis will be developed largely by BMW, too. This alone will make this car more powerful than its predecessors.
2017 Bugatti Chiron
Details of the hybrid Bugatti Chiron are limited but we’re already hearing some pretty impressive claims. The Chiron will have an updated version of the Veyron’s 8.0 liter W16 quad-turbo engine mated to a hybrid powertrain. At least two of its four turbochargers will be electrically powered. Combined output from the hybrid power unit will be 1500 hp. Top speed is a claimed 286 mph. A seven-speed dual-clutch automatic again handles the shifting, and the four-wheel-drive system adds torque vectoring.
They are using the existing Veyron’s carbon-fiber structure, modified in order reduce weight. Improved interior ergonomics and outward visibility are further goals.
The Chiron’s competition is , of course, the Ferrari LaFerrari, McLaren P1, Porsche 918 Spyder. Expect it to be faster than all of them.
When it finally arrives, you may need a pretty large bank account as the expected price tag will $2.5 million. The launch date has been pushed to 2016.
