Ferrari LaFerrari v McLaren P1 v Porsche 918 Spyder

It’s finally happened, the race we have been waiting for. There has always been speculation as to when we would get these 3 supercars on the track, particularly with Ferrari’s reluctance to provide a vehicle. Many have promised we would see this race but so far it never came together until now. Supercar Driver has gone and done it thanks to the generosity of the owner of all 3 cars, Paul Bailey. There was no help provided by any of the automakers so this was as unbiased as any test could be.

The first video has Mat Jackson, British Touring Car driver at the wheel of each car on a hot lap of Silverstone, the F1 track.  The second video moves the action to Santa Pod Raceway, which sounds like it could be in the US but is in fact, in Northamptonshire, England, where they ran the 1/4 mile race.

Finally the definitive drag race 0-300 kph (0-186 mph) was run at Bruntingthorpe Airfield in Leicestershire.

Test Three – Drag Race – 0-186 mph

Results – Test Three – 7 Runs

NOTES: A couple of things to note is that the Porsche is completely dominant up to the 1/2 mile point at which point the P1 takes over and is 3 seconds faster by 186 mph. One reason is that at 146 mph the Porsche decouples the front electric motor resulting in a significant reduction in power. The la Ferrari does eventually pass the Porsche but is still 2 seconds behind the P1 at the finish.

and the winner is ………..

So if we have to pick a winner from these 3 magnificent supercars, then it has to be the car that won 2 out of 3 of these tests. The Maclaren P1
