As criminals drive faster and more sophisticated cars, many police forces are opting for a more exotic mode of transport. Police forces everywhere from the US to the UAE have become the lucky owners – or temporary owners of a host of eye wateringly expensive machinery.  Some are donated, some just have a lot of money. Take a look at our list of the World’s Fastest Police Cars.

1) Dodge Charger Pursuit (United States)

With a 5.7 liter HEMI up front the big Dodge will go from 0-60 in 5.2 seconds and from 0-100 in 13 dead. Power is rated at 370 hp @ 5250 rpm and torque at 395 lb-ft @ 4200 rpm. Charger Pursuit cars get a heavy-duty suspension with rear load-leveling, performance-tuned power steering, a 220-amp alternator and 800-amp battery, and heavy-duty disc brakes with police-tuned ABS. They also get a bigger fuel tank for your attempted escape to the border.

2) Lotus Evora S (United Kingdom)

The latest Evora 400 uses the same 3.5-liter engine but it has been tuned to deliver 400 horsepower, and 302 lb-ft of torque. Weight has been reduced by 49 lb down to a 3,119 pounds. Lotus say it will go from zero-to-60-mph time in 4.1 seconds and on to a top speed of 186 mph. This should give most people thinking of evading capture a second thought.

3) Brabus CLS V12 (Germany)

Brabus tunes the standard Twin-Turbo V12 to put out a staggering 730 hp twin-turbocharged horses and an almost unbelievable 1,047 lb-ft of torque. Top speed is limited to 227.2 mph presumably to prevent all that torque from disintegrating the tires. 0-62 takes a scant 3.2 seconds, 0-125 mph takes 10 secs and 0-186 takes 29.5 seconds. Think you could get away?

4) Ariel Atom (United Kingdom)

It seems the British Police have a real need for speed especially the Avon and Somerset Constabulary who have gone and got themselves an Ariel Atom as a police pursuit vehicle. It’s not just a regular Atom either, instead it’s the newest 3.5R model. The Civic Type-R engine has had boost increased from 7.5 psi to 11 psi giving the 2.0-liter four cylinder 350 hp, up by 40 hp. Add to that the whole car weighs as little as a Graham cracker and you don’t doubt the company when they say this car will go from 0-60 mph in 2.5 seconds and from 0-100 mph time in 6.

5) Lamborghini Huracán (Italy)

In 2014 the Italian State Police switched out their Lamborghini Gallardo for a Huracán LP 610-4 Polizia just because they can. Donated to them the Huracán features a 5.2-litre V10 engine producing 610 horsepower, and a maximum pursuit speed of 202 mph.
0-60 takes just under 3 seconds.

6) Lexus RC F (Australia)

New South Wales in Australia recently added a Lexus RC F to their fleet, more as a promotional vehicle than a pursuit one. We added it to our list anyway. Sporting the 5.0-liter V8 making 467 hp and 389 lb-ft of torque. Power is provided to the rear wheels only via an eight-speed automatic with paddle-shifters. It’ll get to 60 mph in 4.4 seconds and has a top speed of 170 mph.

7) The Supercars (United Arab Emirates)

Possibly the fastest and most stylish police force in the world The Dubai Police Force have the largest selection of exotics in the world. Included are the 247 mph Bugatti Veyron, the $1.5 Aston Martin One-77, the 700+ hp Lamborghini Aventador, the hi-tech BMW I8 and for high speed chases across the sand dunes the Brabus G 700 with no less than 690 hp.

Add to that a Ferrari FF, a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG, a Bentley Continental GT, an Audi R8, a McLaren MP4-12C, and for inexplicable reasons a Hummer H3.
